The CX-5's exterior styling was minimalized with a less is more approach. This minimalization targeted the character lines that flowed throughout the body. Instead, the CX-5 now has more reflective body surfaces, which create a distinguished appearance. The front grille was updated with a three-dimensional texture that replaces the mesh surface. A new signature wing extends from the grille. The headlights and taillights received significant changes with each lamp now featuring a pair of horizontally spaced, rectangular LED lights.

The interior is styled with first-rate materials. The Turbo trim is designed with red accents and stitching, while the 2.5 Turbo Signature trim is decorated with premium quality materials such as Nappa leather and genuine woodgrain. Each trim houses a 10.3-inch infotainment display.
